It is widely acknowledged that medication safety requires a team approach. However there is relatively little agreement about how to effectively achieve clinical engagement in medication safety. This session will include a review of relevant literature examining i) the value of a team approach to Improving Medication Safety; and ii) ways to improve clinical engagement with all health professionals involved in prescribing and administering medications. Approaches to overcoming the barriers to clinical engagement in medication safety will be reviewed, as well as current international, national and local initiatives relevant to clinical engagement in mediation safety.
