Douglas Scheckelhoff is Senior Vice President of Practice Advancement at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists in Bethesda. In this role, he provides leadership and coordination of ASHP efforts addressing critical practice issues. He oversees the Center on Pharmacy Practice Advancement, the Center on Medication Safety and Quality, and the Center on Practice Development. He also coordinates ASHP international programs, services and consulting.
Mr. Scheckelhoff received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Ohio State University. He also earned his Master of Science and completed a PGY1/PGY2 Residency at the Ohio State University Medical Center. He held leadership positions at the Ohio State University Medical Center, University of Kentucky Medical Center, and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, before coming to ASHP.
He has been quoted in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and numerous other news and trade related press publications. He has also appeared live on CNN, CNBC, National Public Radio, FOX News, and numerous national and regional radio broadcasts speaking on a variety of pharmacy related topics. He testified before the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and has presented in over 15 countries. He has over 230 presentations and publications on pharmacy related topics.
